Recyling for the Better

Recently I became aware about the lack of recycling that takes place on the campus of IPFW. It would be easy to spout off a bunch of words about the problems with campus recycling, but I would rather take a different approach. As this is a blog that is mainly focused on the accomplishments of area athletes I have to think there are at least a few area kids that could use some recycled sports equipment.

It may be a small start, but saving some old bats, gloves, or golf clubs from a landfill could sure make some sort of difference.

Fort Wayne Parks and Rec offers many classes throughout the year for junior golf lessons, softball, baseball, and swimming. If you are interested in making a donation to the Fort Wayne Parks and Rec department there address is 705 E. State Blvd., Fort Wayne, IN 46805.

Just think those clubs you have no use for anymore could be put in the hands of a child who could be a future star, and not to mention you’ll be going a little “green”.

Norwell's Phenom

Happy Opening Day everyone! Every spring there is a sense of excitement in the air as the baseball season it set to begin. This season is a special season for a former Norwell High School standout, Jarrod Parker.

Jarrod has been a favorite subject of local sports writers as they hope to see Jarrod pitch in the major leagues this season.

Even though Jarrod is recovering from Tommy John elbow surgery, Jarrod is still considered to be the Arizona Diamondbacks top prospect. Still only 22, he most certainly has a ton of upside. We hope to see Jarrod in the Majors soon.
